Position Title: Operations Supervisor

Location: Valleyfield, QC

Reports to: Plant Manager

Compensation: CAD 85,000$ - 90,000$ + bonus + benefits

Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.   The range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position.   Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   More specific salary range for your preferred location can be discussed during the hiring process.  Please note that the compensation details listed reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, benefits, pension contributions or additional incentives.

Scope of The Position

 

The Operations supervisor is expected to supervise and lead the operations employees in running the manufacturing process in a safe, efficient manner following procedures and policies required to meet production and shipping demands. The Operations supervisor will be expected to maintain a high level of expertise and play a significant role with training and fill in as needed in operating the production plant.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise production, provide hands on assistance and advice in maintaining optimum operating conditions. 40%
  • Lead daily shift meetings, communicate priorities and escalate issues across operating shifts.
  • Create training plans and ensure operator training is up to date.
  • Ability to read, interpret and sometime write documents such as safety rules/procedures, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, manufacturer’s literature, diagrams or schematics. 15%
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions and locate sources of problems by examining mechanical devices in the process of utilizing precision measuring, testing instruments and listening for problems.
  • Issue/Verify/Close out safe work permits. 15%
  • Respond to service calls related to production and maintenance issues.
  • Jointly with the plant manager, the production supervisor will manage contractors, develop job safety analysis and LOTO in support of maintenance activities and repairs.
  • Coordinate production and maintenance schedules with Plant Manager.
  • Participate in hiring process. Help Interview and evaluate applicants for vacant production and maintenance technician positions. 15%
  • Other duties as directed by the Plant Manager. 15%

 

What You Need To Be Successful

  • College degree or Bachelor Degree in chemical, mechanical or industrial engineering.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Chemical Industry or Technical Manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership and excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient use of standard Microsoft software (Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint)
