Position: Senior Logistics Analyst

Primary Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada (GTA) OR Dallas, TX/Atlanta, GA/Detroit, MI (Remote/Hybrid)

Reports To: Senior Logistics Leader

Compensation:  $80,000 - $100,000 CAD + bonus + benefits.**

 

**Candidates in select areas of the US will also be considered (Atlanta, Dallas, Detroit).  Salary information is not a one for one conversion from Canadian ranges and will depend on location, experience, and other regional factors.  More specifics can be discussed during the interview process. 

 

Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.   The range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position.   Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   More specific salary range for your preferred location can be discussed during the hiring process.  Please note that the compensation details listed reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, benefits, pension contributions or additional incentives.

The Senior Logistics Data Analyst is responsible for monitoring and analyzing all aspects of the Private Fleet to drive measurable improvements in safety, compliance, cost containment and service.  Given the centralized nature of the Private Fleet and growth trajectory, good relationships with Fleet Management, Logistics Management and Operations are necessary to identify opportunities and implement recommendations.  In addition to Private Fleet-aligned analysis and tools, the Senior Logistics Data Analyst is responsible for developing a carrier scorecard in conjunction with the Road Logistics Managers and partners with the leadership of the Logistics Operations team to generate ad hoc analysis as requested.

 

 

About This Role and About You

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities: 

 

  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and skill development
  • Develop and update customized training modules for Fleet telematics users
  • Perform research and analysis to stay up to date on industry trends, best practices and emerging technologies relevant to data analysis and logistics management
  • Incorporate research findings into data-driven strategies to recommend improvements on processes and systems
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and documentation to communicate findings, methodologies and recommendations to stakeholders and leadership
  • Continuously seek opportunities to optimize data analysis and the processes necessary to generate in an accurate and timely manner
  • Work with TMS Super User to ensure TMS system provides necessary canned reporting and raw data for external analysis to ensure Road Operations is reviewing cost and service performance; helping with development of actions plans to improve resulting areas of opportunity
  • Work with Regional Driver Manager responsible for Fleet technology to ensure ELD system is working properly and data is being captured to document Fleet performance
  • Leverage ELD, SAP and TMS/FMS technologies to create tailored safety and productivity metrics for Fleet safety and driver/equipment optimization
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining performance scorecards for carrier partners and internal business supply chain operations, utilizing advanced analytics to track KPIs, identify trends and facilitate data-driven decision-making
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining reporting dashboards for Fleet metrics, Fleet financials, Fleet driver safety bonus, and
  • Formulate a comprehensive Private Fleet freight rating methodology
  • Work with Logistics Operations leadership and Fleet leadership to develop Private Fleet RFQ responses
  • Conduct in-depth cost analysis, including labor, equipment maintenance and overhead to ensure accurate rate structures
  • Work with Logistics Operations leadership and Fleet leadership to develop annual Fleet Period Cost plan (annual budgeting)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve any discrepancies related to ELD and TMS/FMS data being used in dashboards, scorecards, and ad hoc analysis
  • Available to support Rail Operations with data analysis and scorecards/dashboards as time allows

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Admin or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5 – 10 years of relevant chemical industry experience preferred
  • 3+ years of data management experience required
  • Advanced proficiency in using computer, office equipment, and office software (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Advanced proficiency with using Excel functions, pivot tables and macros
  • Strong statistical analysis skills and the ability to work with large datasets
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, SAP Analytics Cloud)
  • Familiarity with big data technologies and tools (i.e., Python or R Studio)
  • Experience with ERP systems (i.e., SAP) required
  • Ability to present complex data findings to non-technical stakeholders
  • In-depth knowledge of concepts and systems that are relevant to the role
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders and at all levels within the organization
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and software; demonstrating a solid understanding of change management principles
  • Proven organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Solves immediate problems; collects and organizes data and information to make decisions; creates plans to address immediate issues; makes good decisions in a timely fashion; considers the needs of working team and sensitive to diversity of differences; applies critical thinking to solve issues or concerns

 

Environmental, Health & Safety Responsibilities

 

• Become familiar with Chemtrade Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) policies and procedures

• Immediately report all ES&H incidents (injuries, near misses, releases)

• Complete all required ES&H training in a timely fashion

• Follow all Chemtrade facility and corporate ES&H procedures and practices

• Attend and actively participate in facility ES&H meetings and forums that will drive employee involvement

• Provide feedback and suggestions for ES&H program improvement

• Participate in job safety analysis activities

• Participate in Fleet safety meetings

• Track and report on driver safety/equipment compliance metrics

• Assists in accident and incident investigations by providing driver ELD data
