Position: Logistics Analyst
Primary Location: Hybrid Work from our Toronto Office
Schedule: Full-time, salaried
Reports To: Logistics Sourcing Manager
Compensation: $59,000 - 70,000 annually + bonus + benefits.
Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. A more specific salary range for your preferred location can be discussed during the hiring process. Please note that the compensation details listed reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, benefits, pension contributions, or additional incentives.

About This Role and About You
You will be a catalyst for change and continuous improvement. The Analyst is responsible for providing efficient and competitive freight rates, quotes/estimates, gathering and analyzing transportation-related information to support the effective procurement of transportation services. You work with the sales, business and operations teams and our carrier base to ensure Chemtrade’s current and future operational needs are met.
Qualifications
• Associates or bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Transportation, Business or equivalent related field
• 2 – 5 years of relevant experience preferred, including working knowledge of Microsoft Power BI
• Excellent proficiency in using computer, office equipment and office software (Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Experience with ERP systems (i.e., SAP) preferred
• In-depth knowledge of concepts and systems that are relevant to the role
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in completing tasks
• Ability to work independently and make decisions autonomously while also collaborating effectively within a team environment
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and software and demonstrate a basic understanding of change management principles
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously
• Solves immediate problems; collects and organizes data and information to make decisions; creates plans to address immediate issues; makes good decisions in a timely fashion; considers the needs of working team and sensitive to diversity of differences
• Must have a valid driver license and ability to travel nationally and internationally (to/from the United States) up to 20%
Responsibilities:
Ensure the Optimization of Chemtrade Transportation System Through Continuous Improvement Projects 25%
• Ensure rail/truck cost optimization for all Chemtrade business units
• Evaluate vendor/carrier expenditures to ensure lowest costs are attained
• Through key metrics provide visibility of Chemtrade’s freight spend by business unit to optimize freight spend
• Develop and maintain logistics infrastructure that will improve costs and better overall utilization
• Negotiate efficient and competitive freight rates, quotes/estimates and support as required for Chemtrade businesses
• Optimizes system cost economics by leveraging Chemtrade buying power
Logistics Management 30%
• Review and improve rail/truck planning process ensuring integrity of data and alignment between Sales, Product Coordinators and Operations ensuring customer needs are being met together with optimized sourcing amongst the plants
• Conduct quantitative analyses and implement projects focusing on low-cost distribution, with input from Sales, Product Coordinators, Fleet and Business Manager
• Ensure invoicing issues are resolved with carriers and AP to completion so that invoice statements are as up to date as possible
• Ensure effective communication with 3rd party carriers regarding Invoicing and contracted freight rate issues are resolved promptly
Relationships with Chemtrade Key Carrier Partners 15%
• Manage communications to ensure that Chemtrade’s market and relevant business issues are understood by rail/truck transportation partners
• Implement effective measurement, reporting and communication tools to highlight carrier cost performance issues and their impact on Chemtrade business units
• Ensure partnerships satisfy current and future strategic, commercial and operational needs of both parties
• Assist with development of management plans for Chemtrade carrier partners
Responsible Care and ISO Initiatives 5%
• Ensure rail and truck activities align with corporate Responsible Care Program
Ensures the timely completion and submission of management reports 25%
• Provide accurate planning and budgeting of logistics costs with each business unit through detailed knowledge of carrier contracts
• Report on key performance indicators for cost and service (Freight Cost per Tonne or per Tonne Mile)
• Ensure the accuracy of management information data including key performance indicators for reporting business results and tracking costs
