Position: AWS Cloud Administrator

Primary Location:  Toronto, ON 

Schedule: FT, Salaried

Reports To:  IT Manager

Compensation: CAD 120,000 - CAD 130,000 + bonus + benefits. 

 

Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.   The range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position.   Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   More specific salary range for your preferred location can be discussed during the hiring process.  Please note that the compensation details listed reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, benefits, pension contributions or additional incentives.

About This Role and About You 

 

he AWS Cloud Administrator will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing scalable, secure, and highly available AWS cloud infrastructure. This role requires a deep understanding of cloud services, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, and cloud security best practices. The incumbent will work closely with internal and external teams to deploy, maintain, and optimize cloud-based solutions while ensuring compliance with security and operational standards.

The AWS Cloud Administrator will oversee cloud performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and cost optimization while maintaining infrastructure documentation and ensuring disaster recovery readiness. A key aspect of this role includes reviewing system requirements with a focus on efficiency, security, and cost-effectiveness.  In addition, this position requires expertise in Windows and Linux server administration, adherence to formal change request processes, and staying up to date with evolving AWS technologies. Limited travel to plant and corporate locations may be required.  The ideal candidate should have strong technical acumen, problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to drive cloud initiatives that align with business objectives.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of proven experience as an AWS Cloud Administrator or similar role.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting Windows Servers
  • 3+ year of experience supporting Linux Servers
  • AWS Solutions Architect Certification (Professional level preferred)
  • AWS Developer Certification (Associate)
  • AWS Sysops Certification (Associate)
  • Strong expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
  • Proficiency in AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, Lambda, and others.
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts, security best practices, and cloud architecture.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with formal change request processes

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Design, implement, and manage scalable, secure, and reliable AWS cloud infrastructure.
  • Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible to automate the provisioning and management of cloud resources (primarily Cloud formation).
  • Work with the internal/external teams on assessing the requirements for and deploying 3rd party applications and services within the cloud environment.
  • Monitor and optimize cloud infrastructure performance, ensuring high availability and disaster recovery.
  •  Maintain infrastructure as code repositories
  • Maintain and enhance security best practices, including identity and access management, encryption, and compliance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to cloud infrastructure and services.
  • Creation and execution of change requests
  • Ensure that cloud systems are properly documented
  • Perform root cause analysis on any cloud service outages
  • Stay up to date with the latest AWS services, features, and best practices.
  • Travel to the plants and other locations when required (Limited)
  • Always consider cyber security by design in any system changes or additions
  • Review existing and new system requirements with the consideration for cloud cost optimization.
